Billy Magnussen is engaged!
The actor, 40, popped the question to his girlfriend, photographer and creative director Erica Firestone, during a trip to Sardinia, Italy. The couple shared clips and photos from Magnussen’s surprise beach proposal as they announced the happy news on Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 14.
The carousel kicked off with a clip of the Lilo & Stitch star and Firestone standing on the beach next to a striped towel laid out on the sand. Magnussen appeared to distract Firestone by having her take the controls of a drone (which would ultimately capture the proposal). He then got down on one knee next to her and pulled out a ring.

The two then kissed and embraced as they soaked up the emotional moment.
Another clip shows the couple posing together by the shore, with the ocean stretching out behind them, as Magnussen gave a thumbs-up to the camera and Firestone smiled. The post also featured selfies of the newly engaged couple and shots of Firestone proudly flashing her dazzling diamond ring.
“Anywhere, just as long as you’re by my side #fidanzati 💍🤍,” the bride-to-be wrote in the caption, using the Italian word for engaged couple.

A number of the couple’s friends shared congratulatory messages in the comments, including actor Quincy Dunn-Baker, who wrote, “Cheers brosky! Congrats.”
Anne Hollister, who is a partner in Magnussen’s HappyBad Bungalow production company, commented: ‘So sweet!!!! ❤️ Piglet is trying on flower girl dresses.”
Firestone later shared a snap on her Instagram Stories that showed a special surprise the couple received from their hotel, Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia: a bottle of Contadi Castaldi wine on ice, along with a handwritten note congratulating them on the engagement. The note was dated Sept. 12.

While it’s unclear when the couple began dating, Firestone appeared to share the first picture with Magnussen on her Instagram in October 2024. The post featured photos of the two at the Los Angeles premiere of Magnussen’s HBO series The Franchise.
Just days before Christmas in December 2024, Firestone posted a series of photos of herself and The Big Short star posing outside in Aspen, Colo., with the caption, “It’s a Wonderful Life 🏇❄️🏂.”
Over the course of his decades-long career, Magnussen has appeared in numerous TV series, including As the World Turns, Made for Love and Black Mirror, and in movies such as No Time to Die, Coup! and Road House.
He also has starred in both off-Broadway and Broadway shows, earning a Tony Award nomination in 2013 for his role in Spike.

Magnussen is next set to star in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, alongside Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. The movie premieres on Friday, Sept. 19.
