the only issue I have with this type of media is that although the source is abstractly mentioned and there is a pixely image of the paper in the video, there is no proper reference. no title, no DOI. I cannot directly go to the source. I have to look around and google for it.
i cannot fathom why science journalist wouldn’t want to provide easy access to the paper they are summarizing. If your goal is to spread science education, wouldn’t that be a no-brainer? One of the most useful ways to learn is to have both the summary and the paper next to eachother.
unless of course if your goal is not science education, but rather money / subscribers / social media clout. then you’re part of the reason the world is a dim place these days.
