The Department for Comparative Literature announced that prof. Emeritus Milivoj Solar. For those who do not know, Milivoj Solar is one of the significant reformers of the scientific discipline study of literature.
Milivoj Solar was born on April 8, 1936 in Koprivnica, where he graduated from elementary school and high school. He studied philosophy and Yugoslavics at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, and received his doctorate in 1964 by a dissertation on Fran Galovic. Since 1963, he has been working at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb as an assistant, assistant professor and associate professor, and since 1976 he has been a full professor at the Department of Theory and Methodology of Studying Literature at the Department of Comparative Literature. He taught as a guest at other universities. In the late 1980s (1987-1990), he was a Republican Minister of Education and Culture.
Published a number of capital studies in the field of theory and history of literature (Poistics questions, The idea and the story, Literary criticism and philosophy of literature, Introduction to the Philosophy of Literature, Death of Sanch Panze, Mit o avant -garde i mit o decadenciji, Oedipa’s brothers and sons, Lectures on poor taste: defense of the aesthetic mind, the rhetoric of postmodern, etc.), and the inevitable manuals of literature theories, contemporary world literature, history of world literature and dictionary of literary terms.
He was a regular member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2008 in the Class of Literature, a member of the Society of Croatian Writers, the Croatian Philological Society and the Croatian Philosophical Society. Since 2007, Professor Emeritus has been in the title.

Milivoj Solar, hrvatski književni i kulturni teoretičar, preminuo je 16. rujna 2025. godine u 89. godini života.
