I posted about this story yesterday, but it wasn’t known then that he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, or that he had been convicted of bomb making.
I’d say this makes it much less likely he will be deported, because there will be a real risk of mistreatment in Egypt, even if we tried to deport to a third country it would be difficult because most countries don’t want someone from the Muslim Brotherhood, and they may deport him in turn to Egypt. If there’s a real risk of that happening we can’t deport to that country.
A reminder that under the original refugee conventions we had the right to deport someone who was a threat to public safety or to national security, and that also existed under the ECHR, but that right has been removed under ECHR case law. Now if there is a real risk of mistreatment it doesn’t matter what the person has done, they will not be deported, look up the absolute right of non refoulement.

Government dereliction of duty
This should be an easy case. Committed a major crime here – and acts of terror in Egypt? Deported to Egypt for them to deal with you.
Which will mean we absolutely can’t deport him because the mean old Egyptian authorities might punish him for his little bomb making indiscretion so we’ll have to look after him, pay for him into old age and support his family.
Honestly, how long until one of these do something absolutely horrendous and the whole thing kicks off. Successive Governments and the judiciary are spineless and willing to sacrifice our own citizens on the altar of their saviour complex.
It seems the worse the crime the more likely you are to stay. Him being subject to a deportation order means nothing, I’d give very good odds he won’t get sent back on some human rights technicality.

Codified suicidal empathy in the legal system will stop attempts of deportation, irrationally being a convicted Islamic terrorist makes it assured his treatment in Egypt will be deemed inhumane (they’re not fans of Muslim Brotherhood).
Whatever anyone’s personal opinion is about this case it’s clear to see continuing optics like this are the cause behind reform’s growing popularity and protests like Tommy robinson’s in London.
If people feel like their government values the rights of foreign criminals like this above the rights of people born and living here (who follow the law and contribute to society) then obviously that discontent will result in the growth of more hardline bordering on extreme nationalism
