Hello everyone,
My last name is Kaleci and my grandfather is from Vushtrri. Can anyone help me look for more Information about my last name in Kosove, maybe if it comes from a tribe? My father said it’s from a combination of the word ‘kale’ and the word walk, makes a little sense when you combine them, maybe I come from horse riders in kosove. Can anyone help?
The photos I added are of my grandfather, Kemajl Kaleci, when he grew up in Mitrovice, he is buried near the new graves near Mitrovice when I visited this summer. He has a mustache in all of them
Mfale because I don’t have all this in Albanian. I’m talking better just teaching like the writers now. I am Albanian from America. Thank you

Bro is a cop
What country did he emigrate to?
I am not sure about the etymology of your surname, but “Lec – Leci” is fairly common in (older) names and surnames, I assume it is an old catholic name.
Your surname could also be a combination of a name and surname, it’s common in some regions like: Gjikoka, Rexhbecaj etc. Maybe Kolë (Nikollë) Leci, but I am not sure.
Ask the Kosovo consulate in New York, or the Embassy. They can guide you better as they have all the recourses.
Where do you live in USA?
