The National Integration Agency has reacted to the stagnation of the country’s European integration process.
The AKI says that Montenegro and Albania continue to make progress in the chapters, while North Macedonia remains in the same place.
“As can be seen from the latest data, Montenegro has closed several negotiation chapters, Albania is in an advanced stage with most chapters under review, while North Macedonia, despite the sacrifices and reforms made over the years, continues to remain blocked with no chapters opened or closed. This reality is the result of blocking policies, incompetence and lack of sincere will from the current government, which does not even have the constitutional changes in its plans that would free the country’s European integration process. VLEN lied before the elections when it declared that “there is no government without constitutional changes”. It lied again when it promised that within 3 months, then 6 months, and then even within a year the changes would take place or it would review its participation in the government. According to him, this situation directly harms the country’s European perspective and the aspirations of citizens, especially the youth who dream of their future in the European family.
“Our country’s lack of progress towards EU membership also brings about a violation and disrespect of the Ohrid Peace Agreement itself. DUI demands immediate acceleration of steps towards opening negotiation chapters, removal of obstructive policies and a sincere and transparent commitment in order to achieve the country’s strategic objective, full membership in the European Union,” said Ademi.
