Kosovo Albanian sentenced in Switzerland for fraud of nearly 1 million francs

A 39-year-old woman with Swiss-Kosovar citizenship has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Baden District Court after defrauding seven men and one woman of almost 1 million Swiss francs, albinfo reports.
According to the indictment, she used deliberate lies to obtain money, citing fake salaries or urgent needs, and promised to pay the money back. She spent the money on gambling and luxury items, including a Rolex watch, which she reported stolen after pawning it.
“We are amazed that you managed to get so much money. It is unbelievable,” the presiding judge said, according to the Aargauer Zeitung.
The case is another example showing that Switzerland continues to be vulnerable to cases of individual fraud.
