The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, while hoping that the former KLA leaders will be acquitted of the charges being made against them by the Special Court in The Hague, has stated that during the war they only served their country and people.

Haradinaj, during the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo campaign activity in Fushë Kosovë, said that everything that was done in times of war will be proven to have been done for a free Kosovo.

“Listen to these statements and pronouncements that are being made there in court processes, they are far away and first of all we want those who are being tried to be released, they are our comrades-in-arms, they are Albanians. To come to their place. But it is interesting that in the way that is being said there, believe me, there is nothing extraordinary. We were like that at that time, we served the country. That was how it was at that time and it was necessary to work in that way, but even at this time, we try to complete the work with a vision so that even after 20-30 years, when we explain these processes, it turns out that we served the country. We served the people. Even at that time there was criticism, we were not understood, so even at the time that is being talked about, even these stages of government sometimes when I was the head of government, it is not everything that people praise me for. They praise me for the army, for Trepça, but there were people who took me for granted in a movement, or they assessed that it was not “Necessary, but they are part of the processes we carry out together with allies and partners, but someday all of this will be proven that we have done it for the people of the country,” he said.

James Rubin, who served as Assistant Secretary of State during the war in Kosovo, testified today in the case of Hashim Thaçi and other former KLA leaders in The Hague.

Among other things, he said that in 1999 he learned about Ramush Haradinaj’s communication with the CIA, adding that “this communication had existed for years.”

Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are accused of alleged war crimes. They have been in detention since November 2020.
