JAKARTA – The Norwegian government says Russia violated its airspace three times in 2025. It is not clear whether this violation was intentional or due to a navigation error.

The incident, which lasted between one and four minutes, was Russia’s first offense in more than a decade, the Norwegian government said.

Two incidents, on April 25 and August 18, took place in the Arctic Barents Sea, while the third, on July 24, took place in an uninhabited region in Finnmark, Norway’s northernmost region bordering Russia.

“We cannot confirm whether this was done intentionally or because of a navigation error,” said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere.

“Whatever the reason, this is unacceptable and we have explained it to Russian authorities,” he continued.
