Spanberger: “I Want To Champion Economic Development In Every Region Of Virginia By Leveraging Each Region’s Unique Strengths”
ROANOKE, Va. — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger today laid out her economic growth agenda at the Virginia Trucking Association’s Annual Conference, making clear that she is willing to work with anyone — Democrat or Republican — who is serious about strengthening Virginia’s economy and supporting Virginia’s trucking workforce.
“I want to strengthen the workforce pipeline so that we can keep Virginia a key state for moving goods — both across the country and around the world, with assets like the Port of Virginia and Dulles Airport,” said Spanberger during convention. “As Governor, I also want to make investments in our roads and bridges that ensure the safety of our drivers, reduce congestion, and allow for the swift movement of goods to keep our businesses strong.”
Spanberger continued, “I want to champion economic development in every region of Virginia by leveraging each region’s unique strengths to bring businesses to the Commonwealth and expand our existing businesses. But I can’t do this without your voices at the table. I look forward to working together to put Virginians first and champion the policies that make our Commonwealth strong.”
As Virginia’s trucking industry faces significant workforce shortages, Spanberger worked in Congress with the Virginia Trucking Association to get bipartisan legislation signed into law to cut red rape and make it easier for Veterans to use their GI benefits to enter the trucking workforce.
BACKGROUND
Earlier this year, Spanberger rolled out her Growing Virginia Plan, focused on expanding opportunity across the Commonwealth, strengthening the Commonwealth’s workforce pipeline, and growing business investment in Virginia.
As a Member of Congress, Spanberger built a record of working with both Democrats and Republicans to deliver results for Virginians — and was named the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia.
