it’s a prepaid card – this one depicted with a charge of 15.- – you cannot top up the card, so choose your toilette wisely: 10 x 1.50.- is fine – but don’t throw a pissoir only (1.-) in to the mix: you may end up with an unusable balance of 50 cents!

In Zurich and Luzern I’ve been able to use ApplePay to enter… are these cards a fall back incase someone doesn’t have other forms of payment?

Just use the vending machine as a free toilet. Problem solved. /s

This is mainly thought for people who can’t pay cashless, so they can buy it at Selecta machines with cash. You can always pay by Apple Pay, Twint or card at the toilets directly.
According to SBB you can buy 1.-, 1.50 or 15.- cards, for pissoirs and normal toilets.

As someone who lived in Switzerland for my whole 23 years of existance. I am yet to encounter a paid WC from the SBB… I am genuinely suprised they exist.

Having to pay to piss or shit is offensive!
THEY want me to NOT piss or shit just anywhere! So it is in THEIR interest to make toilets easily available.
Punishing me for trying to making my part in a clean society is stupid and counter-productive.

As if their overpriced tickets weren’t enough…they’re really doing everything to dissuade us from taking the train..
