  1. I kinda feel like (providing no criminal activity) if you get away with something for that long, your employer should either let you get on with it or be the party that gets punished.

  2. The cleaner and mother was accused of “deliberately” failing to inform bosses that she had two jobs — working night shifts at the Palace of Westminster and day shifts at the offices of Deutsche Bank.

So she had 2 separate jobs at 2 different companies so it’s not that either missed that she was working that long at their company.

  3. Am I the only one finiding it amusing that The Times goes out of its way to not mention that the law in question is the EU Working Time Directive?

They’re ragging on a woman for breaking a law that they themselves want rid of.

  4. Anyone else impressed that she worked 8am to 5pm then 10pm to 6am for 16 years and had an impeccable record? Truly remarkable work ethnic

The fact that there’s not even a hint of respect for a remarkable work ethic, neither from the bankers _or_ parliament (even if it is just the estate managers) speaks volumes.

  6. I’ve been out of the UK for a while, but what’s wrong with this ? I assume she was paying her fair whack of taxes and NI, did she sign an exclusivity clause in her contract or is that sort of taken as read in Britain ?

So she’s been fired for being a hard worker? I don’t get it, lots of people work a silly amount of hours all the time.

Interesting how none of the top comments are talking about how she wouldn’t have needed to pull crazy hours doing 2 jobs if just one had paid her decently.
