Guess China will be beating us to the moon after all.
But back to the moon by March 2026, right? Right!?!
The planned maga t shutdown is happening and they don’t care what happens to the people that will suffer.
Say goodbye to our leadership and legacy of leadership. May as well shut off all of those space missions at Mars and the outer planets still working or on their way.
Astronomer here- worth noting a LOT of people (the majority!) who work at NASA don’t actually work for NASA but instead a contractor or similar, and are thus not affected. For example, at NASA Goddard there’s approximately 10,000 people working, and about 3,000 are official NASA government employees so the rest keep going to work (for now).
Basically by this point people are pretty used to the possibility of a shutdown, so you keep working as long as there are still funds (so a few weeks or so).
I mean, the government shutdown was always part of the plan, it began with DOGE. The endgame is to privatize everything so the billionaires own every aspect of your life.
