Forest of Shadows, an immersive Halloween experience, offers eerie illusions and artistic elements until Nov. 2. #k5evening

SEATTLE — A baby carriage surrounded by giant singed teddy bears. A pulsating globe with detached arms reaching toward visitors. A web of laser beams drawing eyes upward to a suspended figure shrouded in white.

These haunted scenarios await visitors at Forest of Shadows, a new immersive Halloween experience at the Seattle Chinese Garden that runs through Nov. 2.

The exhibition is a co-production between Moment Factory and Fever, the entertainment companies behind last season’s Astra Lumina event at the same venue.

“Moment Factory’s stock in trade is doing the spectacular, so first of all we wanted it to be spectacular for people, but we also wanted it to be spooky throughout,” said Murry, a representative from the production team. “A few scary moments but nothing too much for a younger audience.”

Unlike traditional haunted attractions, Forest of Shadows features no jump scares or chainsaws. Instead, the experience relies on atmospheric elements to create unease.

The outdoor journey uses illusions, foggy paths and flickering lights to disorient visitors as they navigate through woods transformed by a mysterious force. Fleeting figures and eerie echoes add to the unsettling atmosphere.

Moment Factory, an acclaimed creative studio based in Montreal, specializes in multimedia entertainment experiences combining video, lighting and sound.

The exhibition represents a departure from typical seasonal attractions in the Seattle area, offering a more artistic approach to Halloween entertainment.

Tickets range from $25 to $40 and are available through the event’s website. The attraction is suitable for families seeking a spooky but not terrifying Halloween experience.
