Strong winds are buffering Denmark on Friday with the approach of Storm Amy, resulting in rail cancellations and potential traffic delays on major bridges.
The express Lyntog rail service between Aarhus and Aalborg has been cancelled from 11pm on Friday until 1:45pm on Saturday, track operator Banedanmark has confirmed.
Other sections of the rail network in Jutland will be subjected to reduced speed services during the stormy weather.
The Skanderborg-Herning and Bjerringbro-Rødkærsbro lines will be restricted to 60 kilometres per hour, as will the northern region of Vendsyssel. This could result in delays.
On its website, Great Belt Bridge operator Sund & Bælt notes that current forecasts from the Danish Meteorological Institute DMI state wind speeds could exceed 25 metres per second on the bridge from 1am until 10am on Saturday.
Wind speeds of this severity require the bridge to close. However, motorists should stay updated on traffic conditions as forecasts may change at short notice.

The Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden could also face wind closures, with strong winds expected between 8am and 11am on Saturday, according to the bridge’s website.
Storm Amy, the remnants of Hurricane Humberto from the Caribbean, is forecast to bring winds to Denmark and more severe weather in Norway on Friday and Saturday.
Ferry services between Kristiansand in Norway and Hirtshals in Denmark have been cancelled overnight because of the incoming weather.
