  1. > The unauthorized party also accessed a “small number” of images of government IDs from “users who had appealed an age determination.”

It doesn’t say from which countries these are from, but a good reminder how dangerous it is to rely on random third parties to have an access and to hold this data.

  2. No one in the Government will give a shit about this or any future data leaks. They literally believe they’re saving children’s lives with this legislation and see your data getting leaked as a small price to pay to make that happen. Moreover, they’ll view anyone who is not in favour of this legislation as likely being a pervert/paedophile, or worse yet – one of the online trolls sending them nasty messages on twitter!

Look on the bright side, at least it won’t feel so bad when your data gets leaked again after a few months of Digital ID!

Gotta protect those kids from online messaging. Everyone else can get their data stolen though, no worries

  4. What if, hypothetically, you were to have a digital ID card, which you used to access government services and whatnot? Then you, say, use this ID card to verify yourself for age verification purposes on websites? Then those websites are hacked and your digital ID data is leaked?

    Just purely hypothetical.

  5. Having a digital ID would mean companies wouldn’t need to get copies of real world IDs…

Just another reason to support digital ID…

I feel awful for a random guy from YouTube who kindly assisted me in getting verified on Discord. His mouth opening skills were exceptional and now his face will be all over the internet.

this is such a ridiculous law ffs

Maybe the government should bring in experts to discuss this in parliament if they really want to implement there 1984 cosplay then at least consider professionals opinions. I just don’t trust it because its being used as an excuse to say “This can reduce illegal immigration” but in Albania its being marketed as “Preventing corruption” by none other then Tony fucking Blair its not going to do either of these things its just an excuse.

  8. Pretty sure this was called out as a massive risk of the OSA at the time, and here we are, less than a few months later, being proved right.

Warning shots fired in the face of this new mandatory “digital ID” phase we find ourselves in.
