Speaking during a session of Parliament, Kearns claimed that weapons are being transported from Serbia to Kosovo in ambulances, and then hidden inside Orthodox churches.

British MP Alicia Kearns has accused the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) of taking part in arms smuggling from Serbia into Kosovo.

Speaking during a session of Parliament, Kearns claimed that weapons are being transported from Serbia to Kosovo in ambulances, and then hidden inside Orthodox churches.

“This is why the security situation is so severe. For far too long we have failed to call out the armed Serbian militias operating in northern Kosovo. The Government is aware — including through soldiers returning from service in KFOR — that weapons are being smuggled across the border in ambulances and stored in Orthodox churches. When our troops request authorization to carry out inspections, the process takes so long that, by the time permission is granted, the ambulance has already left,” Kearns said.
The MP added that she was “deeply concerned” by the fact that the United Kingdom continues to sell ammunition to Serbia.

Alicia Kearns recently met with Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti in London.

BGNES recalls that only days ago marked two years since the Serbian terrorist attack in the village of Banjska, northern Kosovo. The Serbian armed group, led by Milan Radoičić, a close associate of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, took refuge in the Banjska monastery on September 24, 2023.

During the attack, Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed — the only police officer to lose his life in the incident.

According to the indictment filed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the aims of the assault were to destabilize northern Kosovo and create conditions for the annexation of the territory. The armed group, equipped with machine guns, grenade launchers, and other modern military gear, entered Kosovo from Serbia.

Investigations have shown that the logistics, supply lines, and training for the attack were organized from Serbian territory. After the group withdrew from Banjska, a large weapons cache was discovered at the scene. | BGNES
