The Brdo-Brion Summit begins today, President Osmani represents Kosovo

The coastal city of Durres is expected to welcome Western Balkan leaders today at the Brdo-Brioni Initiative Summit, which will focus on the region’s European perspective and the implementation of the European Union’s Growth Plan. RTKlive understands that Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, is expected to participate in this summit of heads of state of the region.

The summit is held under the motto “Common interests, shared commitment for a common future: Together towards the EU” and is organized by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Natasa Pirc Musar and Zoran Milanović, while it is chaired by the president of Albania, Bajram Begaj.

The two-day Brdo-Brijuni Summit is being held this year in Albania, in Golem. The focus is expected to be issues affecting the region, as well as the integration processes of the Western Balkans.

The topics of discussion are related to regional cooperation, good neighborly relations, European integration, the EU Growth Plan, youth, and the design of policies for retaining a qualified workforce, especially youth.

In addition to the plenary session and the press conference that President Begaj will hold together with his counterparts from Slovenia and Croatia, the co-chairing states of “Brdo-Brijuni”, bilateral meetings between the participating leaders are also planned during the proceedings of this summit.

This summit is expected to come up with relevant conclusions, which are considered an impetus for increased cooperation between participating countries and their progress.

Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia are part of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, a 2010 initiative of Slovenia and Croatia, two EU member states.
