Those two places in the middle of the US with the most Korean War Veterans must be really interesting.

Why is the legend not in chronological order?
Interesting how you can sort of see the Black belt in the south where the most common war is the war on terror
I’d assume the counties where the most common vet is from the Korean War just has very few vets
Should I assume “War on Terror” includes US forays into Iraq and Afghanistan post 9/11? If so, this shows in stark contrast the impact of drafted versus volunteer armed forces.
Edit: Based on counties I am familiar with, I would say urban vs. rural and/or socioeconomic factors may also be a driving factor.
main take away for me: there’s a US veteran who lives next door to a polar bear in very *very* northern Alaska
Would be interesting to see this map 25 years ago
missing wars:
– war on drugs
– war on terror
– war on poor
– war on education
all of these would just paint the map entirely
I don’t see anything even mildly interesting here.
