Kosovo held its first training session this afternoon at the “Fadil Vokrri” stadium in Pristina, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Slovenia, which will be played on Friday.

Some of the main players were absent due to late commitments with their clubs, but also travel, as they only landed in Pristina today.

Edon Zhegrova did not attend the session, having not played against Milan in Serie A or Villarreal in the Champions League. The Juventus striker joined the team on Monday at the hotel.

Also, Vedat Muriqi and Arijanet Muriqi were absent due to matches with Sassuolo and Mallorca, while Elvis Rexhbeçaj, who played for Augsburg on Saturday, organized his wedding ceremony in Prizren on Sunday.

Also missing were Albion Rrahmani, Ermal Krasniqi and Muharrem Jashari, who had matches on Sunday.

Other important players for the Kosovo squad were present at the first training session.

Hoffenheim’s young centre-back Albian Hajdari wore a Kosovo shirt for the first time after deciding to choose Kosovo over Switzerland.

Leon Avdullahu and Fisnik Asllani, also from Hoffenheim, participated in training, along with Milot Rashica, who returned after a period of injury.

Kosovo is coming off an important 2-0 victory over Sweden in Pristina, which came as a reaction to the 4-0 defeat by Switzerland in Basel.

Currently, Kosovo is second in the group with 3 points, behind Switzerland with 6 points, while Sweden and Slovenia each have 1 point. In addition to the match with Slovenia on Friday at “Fadil Vokrri”, Kosovo will face Sweden on October 13 in Gothenburg. /Telegraph/
