Celebrating a new milestone in Northern Europe, Greece received the “Best European Travel Destination” award at the 2025 Danish Travel Awards, marking its first-ever distinction at Denmark’s premier tourism event.
Held in Copenhagen on October 1, the ceremony brought together more than 560 tourism and aviation professionals to celebrate outstanding achievements and innovation across the global travel industry.
The award highlights Greece’s growing appeal among Danish travelers and its reputation for offering high-quality tourism experiences that blend natural beauty, authentic culture, and warm hospitality.
Eftychia-Christina Aivalioti, Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) Office for the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, received the award on behalf of Greece. Her presence underscored Greece’s ongoing efforts to enhance its visibility and partnerships in Northern Europe.

Greece outperformed destinations such as Italy and Spain, marking a historic milestone at the Danish Travel Awards, while sealing its position as a premium and competitve international destination.
The Danish Travel Awards are among Denmark’s most prestigious distinctions in the travel and tourism sector. Organized by TravelMedia Nordic—the publisher of Standby.dk, Check-in.dk, and Turisme24.dk—the awards recognize excellence across 24 categories determined by surveys conducted by research firm Epinion, while three additional categories are decided by a panel of experts.
