The public broadcaster of North Macedonia has released several notes from the Board of Directors meeting held on September 19, through which it was revealed that the country’s participation in Eurovision 2026 has not yet been decided.

In detail, the president of the board, Davor Pašoski, stated that it is positive and there is still room for North Macedonia to return to Eurovision, following his meeting with the public broadcaster’s president Zaharija Vulgarakis. He noted that MRT’s budget must be approved by the government and even more, be expanded in case of a possible return of the country in the Contest.

When president Vulgarakis was asked by a board member why the country has been absent in recent years, he explained that financial and organizational difficulties had prevented participation.

At the same time, Mile Grozdanoski, a member of the board, emphasized the importance of Eurovision for North Macedonia’s image and stressed that preparations should start early, adding that they are already too late for this year. Davor Pašoski agreed that proper preparation and strategy are needed for a possible return in 2027, also mentioning that there are plans to invest in domestic music festivals such as Cvetnici and Skopje Fest.

Finally, another board member confirmed once again that the public broadcaster has received numerous requests asking for North Macedonia’s return to Eurovision, most of which name Bobi Andonov to be the representative, while some also mention Tamara Todevska, the 2019 representative with the country’s best-ever result.
