This seems like an interesting alternative to flying especially that Night Train resurgence has not been successful thanks to Right Wing parties all over Europe.

The tickets cost ~150 CHF one way compared to 100 CHF for airlines. However, you get to save on Hotel fees + 3-4 hours of to and fro from the airport.

0 chance this will have success.

Like the Domobus-Flixbus experiment that crash landed a few years ago.

There’s a reason these types of busses work in Asia but not at all in Europe or NA.

  2. Zurich-Barcelona flight costs between ~31-113 CHF with around 1h45 flight time. Even considering airport wait time it is shorter, cheaper and safer than bus

Actually pretty cool, I’d consider this. I’ve taken a few 13+ hour flixbuses anyways, and that was way less comfortable.

Sleeping safely with strangers I don’t know on a bus? Also have you ever seen the toilets after 2 hours? Also Hygene? How often / deeply is that cleaned?
Might work if you are younger but wouldn’t be for me (40).

I’ll probably use this. I’d rather sleep on a bus than have to deal with airport/plane passengers who are absolutely awful….

  6. The problem is how much flying is subsidized. It’s a joke and should be way way more taxed.

  7. I took the overnight FlixBus from Zürich to Ljubljana. It got me there, but I needed about a week to recover. I’m not doing that again, if I have any choice. The ÖBB NightJet sleeper was quite a bit better. Still not great, but better.

  8. Can you please elaborate on the relationship with right wing parties and night trains? I’m really interested, more taking into account that barely any right wing party is at the power in (western) Europe.

  9. Oh sure, great, what a convenient alternat… oh, it’s 150 CHF PER PERSON PER DIRECTION? Nevermind.
