Camping in Australia in the outback – or in a dark skies preserve – and seeing the stars is such a surreal experience. Even getting to a small rural town a couple of hours away from a metropolitan area yields pretty impressive results. Yet it is what the vast majority of our ancestors for the overwhelming majority of human history would have been used to.
