Anthony Elanga was involved in a tense moment in the tunnel after Sweden’s loss to Kosovo.

On Monday evening, Sweden suffered a 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in a World Cup qualifying match, which took place at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, their home ground.

This result marks the third consecutive defeat for the Swedish national team and makes it impossible to secure direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup, while a place in the play-off stage is far from certain.

Currently, Sweden is at the bottom of the group with just one point from four matches, while group leaders Switzerland have ten points, Kosovo seven and Slovenia three.

It seems that this dark period of results has also greatly affected Anthony Elanga, who was reportedly heard screaming with nervousness in the stadium tunnel after the Kosovo defeat.

Less than 24 hours after the loss to Kosovo, the Swedish Football Association confirmed the dismissal of coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

But it’s not just Tomasson who is disappointed by this result, as a report by Swedish radio, Radiosporten, revealed that Elanga was heard shouting at his teammates in the stadium tunnel after Tuesday’s defeat.

Journalist Jonas Enarson claims to have heard the Newcastle United star say: “The damn system must go,” among other things, during his time in the tunnel.

Despite having had a brilliant start with Newcastle United, Elanga was benched for the match against Kosovo, a decision he later admitted was difficult to accept.

“It’s frustrating. As a footballer, you’re always going to play. I was completely healthy,” the former Manchester United star said.Telegraph/
