Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 43,
The Seahawks fell to the Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 10, in a Northwest 2A Conference game.
“Archbishop Murphy might be the best team in the state, all classifications,” Anacortes coach Justin Portz said. “We could’ve played a little better and made it closer for sure but public schools are at a huge disadvantage and I don’t see anyone in 2A football being able to match their all star roster.”
The Seahawks were held to 207 yards on offense, including 35 on the ground on 11 carries.
The team’s only touchdown came on a throw from quarterback Ryan Harrington to Luca Moore.
Harrington passed for 172 yards and rushed for 34 on six carries, while Moore caught four passes for 50 yards, and Zeke Hawkins six passes for 63 yards.
“Our defense played well enough to give us a chance but they (Archbishop Murphy) did a great job stopping the run, forcing a few turnovers and keeping us out of rhythm,” Portz said. “I hope we have another opportunity to play them down the road.”
