E-commerce has significantly changed the way people shop around the world. A report by Ceoworld magazine for 2025 assesses the approach that citizens of different countries have to distance shopping, Euronews reports.
The United States leads with 47.5% of retail spending conducted online, followed by China, Japan, India, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Albania ranks 110th, with about 26% of online purchases by locals.
Among neighboring countries, the country reporting the highest online purchases is Montenegro, ranked 66th with 36% of online purchases, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia with 35% respectively. Meanwhile, North Macedonia ranks 80th with 31% of its population shopping online.
The report ranks countries based on various factors, including the time individuals spend online each week, the percentage of people who shop online each month, and the average share of income spent online. Currently, there are 2.64 billion online shoppers globally, accounting for over 33% of the world’s population.
