SCUT, Romania’s newest cybersecurity company, has introduced the concept of a digital cyber shield, a unified approach co-created with Orange Cyberdefense. The model aims to provide high-level protection, complete visibility, and coordinated assistance in the event of a cyberattack. As cyber threats grow more sophisticated and carry increasing financial, reputational, and operational risks, SCUT’s unified architecture represents a new approach to integrated cybersecurity.

The SCUT architecture eliminates “blind spots” between traditional solutions and provides a comprehensive view of an organisation’s IT infrastructure, from user devices (phones, laptops, tablets) to networks, servers, on-premises systems, and cloud environments. The goal is to eliminate fragmentation and build a coherent architecture featuring rapid threat detection, event correlation, and coordinated AI-assisted response.

Created with the support of shareholder Orange Romania, SCUT introduces to the local market an integrated protection model designed to prevent attacks before damage occurs. SCUT’s expertise is primarily local, strengthened through a strategic partnership with Orange Cyberdefense, a European leader with over 50,000 clients and annual revenues of 1.6 billion euros. The partnership brings international best practices, validated technologies, and operational methodologies tested across Europe, offering Romanian companies a protection level comparable to that of Western European organisations.

“In 2025, we can no longer talk about connectivity and digitalisation without addressing cybersecurity. SCUT completes the business circle of Orange Romania. We are the operator with the fastest fixed and mobile networks and the most extensive network of data centres in the country, complemented by strong cloud and business integration services. We thus enable Romanian businesses and the public sector to access secure, next-generation digital solutions and services. Through SCUT, our cybersecurity offering makes us a truly convergent operator,” said Florin Popa, Orange Business Director and Vice President of SCUT, at the launch event in Bucharest.

Though backed by Orange Romania, SCUT was built as a startup designed to be “small and agile enough to keep up with the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity, but large enough to make a real impact,” its CEO said, adding that future plans include setting up an internal R&D division focused on specialised and AI-driven solutions. SCUT also aims to leverage Romania’s strong technical talent base, particularly among young innovators. The company currently has a team of 25 dedicated experts, with plans to double the number by mid-2026, representatives added. SCUT will serve both corporate and public sector clients, building on the 200,000+ companies that already use Orange’s business services, giving the company one of the largest B2B client bases in the country.

“The launch of SCUT marks a strategic moment for Romania’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Through this project, Orange Cyberdefense brings to the local market our 25 years of experience in protecting critical infrastructures across Europe. Together with Orange Romania and SCUT’s experienced team, we’ve built a unified security architecture based on the same principles and technologies we implement for clients throughout Europe. At the same time, SCUT provides access to valuable information and data from an emerging and highly active cyber region. It’s a synergistic relationship that allows us to expand into a strategic European area, strengthening both local and European digital resilience, while developing our expertise through the valuable threat intelligence gained in Romania,” said Hugues Foulon, Executive CEO of Orange Cyberdefense.

“Today, security is no longer about protecting a system but an entire digital ecosystem. Our products and services act as a digital cyber shield that safeguards every link in the chain — from phones and laptops to networks, servers, and cloud — offering companies full visibility and rapid assistance,” said Mădălin Dumitru, CEO of SCUT.

Protecting organisations by starting with their leaders

Alongside technical solutions, SCUT is also launching SCUT Executiv, a special programme designed for entrepreneurs and top management. It combines cyber awareness (how you’re targeted, manipulated, and how an attack unfolds) with personal digital security (protecting communication, sensitive data, and public reputation).

“An attack doesn’t always start in the network. It can begin with a message, a casual conversation, or a wrongly shared piece of information. That’s why protection must start with business leaders and extend throughout the organisation,” added Mădălin Dumitru.

End-to-end services

Unification means gaining a complete view of a company’s or institution’s entire digital infrastructure. This can introduce significant complexity across systems and teams, which is why SCUT provides services designed to address these challenges and deliver the right mix of products and services for the entire cybersecurity journey.

It starts with prevention and auditing, including risk and vulnerability assessments through internal and external scanning to identify all possible infiltration scenarios. Reactive services, such as cyberattack response and Managed Detection and Response (MDR), include 24/7 monitoring and threat detection and response within minutes, ensuring minimal downtime. Simultaneously, SCUT offers threat hunting services, proactively searching for hidden threats among alerts.

SCUT also integrates with existing platforms and products, offering flexible security support ranging from strategy and KPIs to process development, compliance and certification, training, and reporting. This includes consulting and implementation for NIS2 directive compliance, transforming regulatory requirements into practical business steps.
