No-one really cares about these titles much, but this is still a good decision. I’m from York (well, it’s the closest city and I was born there) and it’s faintly distasteful to have his name associated with the city.

Genuinely the best thing Charles has done that I know of, even if this has no actual legal effects, it’s clearly showing he’s trying to distance himself and the royals from Andrew, when Elizabeth did fuck all.

To be fair he’s not a lot worse than the last Duke of York – seems to go with the title.
There’s got to be something absolutely damning in Virginia Guiffree’s book.
He should have had the title taken off him after that interview had aired.
As he is such an arrogant and entitled person, losing all his honorifics will actually seriously bruise his psyche.
Sure, no doubt he will get a serious income from the pending non-exec roles he will be foisted with, but he knows, in his heart, that literally *everyone* knows what he did and the unspeakable people he associated with, means he is the definition of a cunt.
This is a form of comeuppance – sure, he will have plenty of money, but zero respect from the World. He will not enjoy the self-hate he is going to endure.
That is quite something for anyone to live with.
He says he won’t *use* his titles. He can’t actually disclaim the title “Duke of York” in this way; it would need an act of Parliament. So he is still formally the Duke of York.
Good to finally see the RF take decisive action on this. Charles is clearly keen to trim the RF and William seems to want the same.
Plus it is as others have said a major distraction, both Charles and Will trying to do chariry work while Andrew gallivants around with scandals
