  1. I mean, technically they’re the militarys satellites, SpaceX just built and launched them

  2. Is this something they can fix via software or is the transmission hardware designed around a specific frequency range?

“Starshield is SpaceX’s classified satellite constellation, used primarily by the U.S. military”.

No and no. It’s not SpaceX’s, the Starshield satellites belong to the DoD. The DoD is the *only* user, not the primary one. They’re operated by the National Reconnaissance Office, the NRO. That’s one fact that slipped through. (Afaik the basic operations are done by the Starlink team but everything is at the direction of the NRO.)

” “SpaceX is smart and savvy,” Tilley said to the publication, and it’s likely that the company just went to “do it and ask forgiveness later.” ” Tilley is smart and knowledgeable in some ways but that’s sloppy speculation. It’s the DoD that’s likely to do things like this and ask for forgiveness later. Or just brush aside complaints.

This site has massively misrepresented the story for sensationalism. He’s also ripped of the NPR story, which itself had a lot negative spin on it.
