Fishermen looked to me to be number one of the list of people that shouldn’t have voted Brexit. They might’ve been able to fish but there’d be nobody to sell them to.

  2. if only someone had told them this was the case, and fought tooth and nail to prevent this disaster from occurring, only to be ignored and for them to vote for it anyway.

My sympathy existed pre-brexit, thats why i fought to remain, but we were ignored, and they voted for this. So now I have zero sympathy, they voted, this is the consequences, they will have to live with it, they got what they wanted.

having to live with the consequences of their actions is the only way some people learn.

But then they turn around and support farage still…..

  3. “It’s very disappointing,” Mr Gilbert told *The Independent*. “We were promised to get our own little island, and as far as I’m aware, it’s still an absolute nightmare for merchants to sell abroad due to paperwork, inspections and stamp approvals. It’s too much hassle, and now only 50 per cent of the fish we produce goes abroad.

Imagine leaving a free trade zone and then being faced with extra paperwork when you want to export. Who could possibly have predicted that? Why did nobody warn these fishermen?

  4. Zero sympathy. Even now they are probably flirting with voting reform to hand the architect of their demise more power. Turkeys and Christmas

  5. I will never understand the average voter’s continuously habitual rake stepping abilities.

  6. Securing such a vastly outsized role in the political debate, making many people’s life tangibly worse and STILL failing to secure any benefits for themselves – skill issue, guys. I can’t bring myself to care more for you than you used to care about me a few years ago.

We tried to warn you, but you chose to believe lies that you thought would make you richer while the rest of us got poorer.

0 sympathy for them. 90%+ voted for Brexit so they reap what they sow.

Unfortunately the only way for populism to be defeated is for them to feel the consequences of their actions.

  9. I’d love to take joy in the fact many of us warned them and voted against this. I’d love to sit here smug about being right. But these idiots have screwed us all over and it’s going to be generations before things improve.

0 sympathy, enjoy the mess you made and don’t dare ask for a bailout.

I think it’s time to accept that the government doesn’t care about you 🛥  🎣 .

lol, no sympathy from me. Much like MAGA soy bean farmers, British fishermen voted against their own interests where minutes of research could’ve saved them a lot of heartache.

  12. Brexit and then Covid really opened my eyes to just how stupid people are. I knew they were dumb but my god. How did we even make it this far as a species.

  13. There were people telling them Farage is full of shit before the referendum .But how are people supposed to know that they should trust one voice over another? Farage was clearly easy to trust for many.

  14. I know this is a big “harhar you didnt get what you voted for” things but could we actually fix this? At this point I dont care who it emboldens, essentially allowing several foreign countries to trawl the shit out of our water is destroying the ecosystem surrounding these islands

  15. When will we hold those that sold us the lie accountable by showing us the clear benefits that Brexit was sold on.

Not the russian Brexit that Boris and Nigel got paid to deliver

  16. Nothings changed because the problem isn’t Brexit but the insane influence fishing has over their environment. They will destroy the oceans and seas for another penny. Perhaps it’s time they rethink their career choices because trying to be a fisherman in the UK is insane.

  17. Yes – they were told that BEFORE the vote – but chose to believe the Charlatan Farage instead.

He said, you’ll be able to catch as many fish as you like – but he deliberately failed to mention that they would not be able to sell them !

  18. FAFO. Zero sympathy we told them exactly what would happen and they didn’t listen. So fuck em, let them suffer

Nobody has benefited from Brexit. My mother voted leave as being a nurse she believed the shite that was plastered on the side of the bullshit bus saying the NHS would get £350 million a year extra yet here we are with a struggling health service.

  20. They were used as a tool. No one had any ambitions or desire to help them. Not like they were told at the time.

It’s fine though we’ve punished those who lied to us. No wait Johnson won another election at Farage is polling at 30%.

  21. Not the same exactly but Brexit was to protect jobs – check out who is working on other boats in UK waters, it’s not just fishing boats.
Wind farm boats , all North sea boats in Aberdeen even some ferries , tugs, work boats. Companies are ignoring the laws and hiring cheap labour.

They need to stop being fundamentally dishonest and patronising to those who voted Remain – I mean they won; so what are they complaining about? Enjoy your W.
