All polling stations in North Macedonia opened on time Sunday morning for the country’s local elections, and voting is proceeding without any incidents, the State Election Commission (SEC) announced.

Polling began at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 7:00 p.m. A total of 3,474 polling stations are operating across the country, where 1,832,415 eligible voters have the right to cast their ballots.

On Saturday, one day before the election, voting was held for prisoners, individuals under house arrest, the sick and infirm, and residents of nursing homes.

The SEC announced it would release initial turnout data and observations on the voting process at a press conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Preliminary results are expected to be announced within 12 hours after the polls close. | BGNES
