Yesterday, a doctor posted a post complaining about people ‘attacking him for no reason’.

The doctor deleted the post. Why?

Because it became clear in the comments that the doctor did not understand why the citizens were angry. The problem was in his attitude towards patients and ignoring the corruption that is destroying the Croatian health system.

When one user explained to him that he had a family medicine doctor who hadn’t been in the office for 15 years, that the nurse was doing the work of three people, and the specialists were examining him while Googling the symptoms… the doctor replied:

“Given the state of the country, you have to be happy if anyone is in the doctor’s office”

Why are patients being asked to be happy paying health insurance their whole lives for care they are not receiving?

The doctor decided to hold both the faculty chair and the office at the expense of the patients. It is not a state of affairs. It is a personal decision of one doctor not to come to work for 15 years, but still get paid and see the patients assigned to her.

And the doctor tells the man that he must be happy.

The doctor writes that the patient "he must be happy". Yes "you should be happy"yes "maybe you should be grateful in difficult circumstances"… but ‘must’. In fact, the doctor tells this to all patients who are in a similar situation.

When he says "they must be happy" he gives them an order. As if it is their duty to be satisfied with inadequate health care because he says so. Is that advice? Understanding? It’s none of those things.

This very attitude, that patients must be grateful for what they get, no matter how bad it is, is one of the reasons why people reacted angrily to his AMA.

‘The state of the country’ is an argument used by those who do not want to change things for the better. The attitude that irresponsibility is tolerated, that unprofessionalism is covered up, that patients are told "be happy that you have anything"… led to such a ‘state of affairs’

Citizens are not angry with the doctor personally. They are angry at the system in which the Minister of Health can embezzle taxpayers’ money through rigged purchases of medical equipment, get fired, receive a salary for another year and then calmly return to work as a neurosurgeon, as if nothing had happened.

Prof. Ph.D. Vili Beroš was arrested in November 2024 for accepting bribes for rigging public purchases of microscopes and medical robotics. While patients waited 146 days each for the first diagnostic examination, he helped the criminal group sell the equipment at inflated prices. And now, a year later, he is sitting in the same hospital where people have been waiting for months for examinations…

And the doctor tells the patients that “they must be happy if anyone is in the office.”

It is not a ‘state of the country’. It is structural irresponsibility that is tolerated because people like the aforementioned doctor normalize the abnormal.

I ljudi su krivi.

  3. Viridis-ad-rubeum on

A kada nešto zatreba, bolje da odmah krene rješavati privatno, jer će osim novaca, izgubiti još i živce, a možda i zdravlje. Tema vouchera u zdravstvu se izbjegava.
