Donald Trump vows 100% tariffs on all foreign-made films, reigniting tensions with Hollywood.
Regal West Ridge movie theater is closing its doors this week.
Located at 1727 SW Wanamaker Road, the theater announced via its business Facebook page on Oct. 20 that its final day of operation will be Oct. 23.
The post didn’t provide any further details regarding the reason for the closure.
Why is the theater closing?
The Capital-Journal visited the theater Oct. 14 and 17, after rumors about the closure began to circulate on social media. At the time, there were no signs or notices within the theater indicating that it would be shutting down.
A theater manager declined to comment and directed the reporter to Regal’s customer service line. The Capital-Journal also contacted Regal Cinema’s customer service and media relations departments but didn’t receive a response.
How many movie theaters will remain in Topeka?
Once Regal West Ridge closes, Topeka will be left with one operating movie theater — B&B Theatres at 2829 SW Fairlawn Road.
Topeka’s Regal Hollywood theaters, 6200 SW 6th Ave., closed its doors in January 2023. That property remains vacant.
