From London, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that for Kosovo to succeed, it must focus on fulfilling EU-mediated dialogue criteria and not dwell on Serbia.

“My view is clear. Kosovo should complete all points in the EU dialogue and then leave the ball in Serbia’s court,” Rama said. He added that Kosovo should move forward toward Europe, letting the EU handle Serbia, rather than turning the issue into a blame game.

Rama emphasized his respect for Kosovo’s elected leaders. “I fully respect whatever decisions they make for their people and country,” he noted during the Chatham House panel on “Western Balkans and the European Union.”

The Prime Minister also stressed that Kosovo’s territory is defined. “Kosovo is a republic, a new democratic state recognized by major powers, though five EU countries still do not recognize it. I see no territorial problem,” Rama said.

He added that Kosovo has the responsibility to advance and convince others of its consolidated position regarding democratic values and EU membership.
