Kosovo citizen Edison Šehu (22) was sentenced to 10 days in prison after admitting that he had written the graffiti “APRZ ÚCH 1878” in Meljine.

He was issued a protective measure of expulsion of a foreigner from the territory of Montenegro for a period of one year.

This was confirmed to “Vijesti” by the Minor Offences Court in Budva – Herceg Novi Department.

A Kosovo citizen committed a violation of Article 18 of the Law on Public Peace and Order, which stipulates that anyone who causes damage to buildings, monuments or other objects by writing graffiti or other inscriptions on these objects will be punished for the violation with a fine of 50 euros to 400 euros or imprisonment.

“The defendant was brought to court at 9:30 p.m., on charges that today, at around 4 p.m. in Herceg Novi, in the town of Meljine, he wrote graffiti with red spray paint containing the words ‘ARPZ UCK 1878’. The defendant admitted committing the offense, and pointed out that the inscription ‘ARPZ’ refers to the fan group to which he belongs, while the name ‘ÚČK’ refers to the Kosovo Liberation Army, and that the inscription “UCK” is not in the context of his fan group. It was ordered that the defendant be immediately sent to serve his sentence in the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions,” Vijesti was told.

Police detained a bus operated by the Kosovo transport company Shpejtimi in Igalo today after passengers wrote graffiti in support of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) on buildings in Meljine.

According to unofficial information from “Vijesti”, it was a fan group from Prizren that was passing through Montenegro.

The Police Directorate officially announced the incident in Herceg Novi a few minutes before midnight.

The security institution explained that at around 16 p.m., they were notified that passengers from a bus with Kosovo license plates had “drew controversial graffiti” on an auxiliary building near a residential building in Herceg Novi.

“These persons had previously entered Montenegro from the direction of Croatia at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing. Upon arriving at the scene, police officers spotted a bus that had been stopped near a catering facility. Taking further measures and actions, police officers isolated and secured the persons in order to establish their identities and collect the necessary information. The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Herceg Novi and the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica were informed of the incident. Upon the prosecutor’s order, police officers seized video surveillance from the scene of the incident and collected information from several persons in the police premises, after which the perpetrator, a Kosovo citizen E.Š. (22) from Prizren, was identified and deprived of liberty, for committing a misdemeanor under Article 18, paragraph 1 of the Law on Public Order and Peace,” the statement reads.

The UP confirmed information from Vijesti that Šehu was taken to a misdemeanor judge who sentenced him to 10 days in prison and issued a decision on expulsion from the territory of Montenegro for one year.

They explained that Shehu would be deported after completing his prison sentence.

“The person was taken tonight to serve his prison sentence at the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions in Spuž,” the statement reads.
