I would highly recommend reading «Havboka». Håkjerringa (first image) is one of the most interesting animals in the world imo, so many ancient and alien characteristics. They don’t become fertile until they are around 150 years old, and live until they are 200+.
They have a weird symbiotic relationship with parasites that live in their eyesocket and make them blind, but at the same time glow in the dark to attract food.
There are plenty of more cool quirks that I don’t remember too.
