I know a lot of you aren’t keen on religion but I do think the fact that a large number of the overseas branches have decided to split with our national church is something to keep an eye on.

Tbh, I don’t know anything like enough about Anglican/protestant beliefs around women to comment fairly on this.

    – Why don’t they believe in women leaders?
    – How did this view diverge from both other denominations and the rest of the Anglican church?
    – Where within scripture does the belief that women shouldn’t lead come from?

I think the head of the Church of England might already have been a woman from 1952-2022. Maybe they need to get over it

  4. Who cares?

There are plenty of options of churches both in England and overseas for those who want to continue believing in the Christian faith as we’ve received it from Christ and the apostles and those who wish to innovate on it.

There’s a lot of choice for everyone and if there are genuine irreconcilable differences over subjects like sexual ethics, gender and so on, it is better that people have the freedom to go their separate ways.

The Anglican Communion has been deeply divided since 2003 and the election of Gene Robinson as Bishop in New Hampshire and this just is a step further on that trajectory.

The issues seem to be more over sexual ethics and her stance on Living in Love and Faith than her being a woman.

Love the pick ‘n’ mix attitude of religowankers to their fairy sky god books.

So this is bringing on the inevitable? The church has done things to appease these people but society intellectually wants people to be equal rather than having clergy putting down sections of us for being innately inferior.

  7. In the meantime, what are we doing about groomers in frocks… seems like they believe there are more pressing matters. Says it all really …

Sick of hearing about the new leader of an irrelevant organisation whose beliefs are based on fantasy and blind ideology.

But enough about the Green Party!

So break away and form your own church if you do not like it. It is how the Church of England came about anyway.

  10. It has been coming and I suspect that had a male liberal archbishop been elected they would have done this anyway.

I don’t understand why you’d even want to be a Christian if you just don’t even believe in it. The mainstream Anglican Church is the perfect example, none of them actually believe in it.

“Why does one need a penis to be an archbishop?”

“That would be an ecumenical matter”.
