Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia Klemen Boštjančič.

The focus is on expanding cooperation in the field of infrastructure reconstruction, supporting communities, involving Slovenian business in Ukrainian projects, and strengthening technical cooperation between the institutions of both states.

“Slovenia is a consistent partner of Ukraine. We value not only financial assistance, but also concrete participation in projects – from humanitarian demining to supporting communities and restoring infrastructure. Slovenian initiatives in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Zhytomyr regions have a direct impact on people’s lives. Today, we are focused on further steps – involving Slovenian business in Ukrainian projects, expanding municipal partnerships, and strengthening technical cooperation. This is practical work that forms the basis of our sustainable recovery,” Oleksii Kuleba noted.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the role of Slovenia in developing the potential of local self-government in Ukraine, in particular within the framework of the U-LEAD with Europe program and projects of the Center for European Perspectives (CEP).

As well as opportunities for Slovenian companies to participate in the reconstruction of damaged housing, modernization of municipal and transport infrastructure, development of green energy and waste management.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Slovenia has provided Ukraine with assistance worth over 83 million euros. It includes humanitarian, military, financial and technical support. In particular, 15 million euros were allocated for medical assistance, psychosocial rehabilitation of children, protection of internally displaced persons; armored vehicles, drones and weapons were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Today, 18 partnerships operate between Ukraine and Slovenia at the interregional and intermunicipal levels.

Slovenia pays special attention to humanitarian demining – in particular, relevant projects worth 1.5 million euros were financed, and special equipment was transferred to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. In addition, institutional support is provided: training programs for Ukrainian communities are implemented, expert assistance is provided through the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF), and initiatives such as “Grain from Ukraine” are supported.
