I wanted to have second 5k display for my setup and found exactly same model display as mine but on Galaxus “Used” platform it was 699 CHF, while a month before I bought brand new for 906 CHF.
Description of product:
“Used product
As good as new
Screen was replaced by Digitec and has not been used since (the new LCD panel is still in its original packaging)”
That’s what I received on photos. It’s clear that its not original packaging and it’s nit as good as new”. The bad part that I confirmed in Galaxus e-mail that I received parcel.
I’ve immediately contacted Galaxus, they told me to reach seller and if there will be no answer then they can intervene, so I did. I wrote mail and got answer pretty quickly (within 1h) that I have to bring it to post so they can open case. So in less than 2h after I received parcel it was already returned to post. Few days after I got answer from the post that packaging of such products is insufficient and they don’t accept their guilt. I forwarded answer to seller, and had no answer from him more than 5 days. So I contacted again Galaxus and told them it’s time for them to fix the issue. As a conclusion Galaxus just wrote me that: I’m guilty that platform doesn’t have possibility to confirm receipt of product and compliance of it to description. And:
“I would kindly suggest that you contact your household insurance, as such cases are often covered under their policies. However, as a gesture of goodwill, I can just offer you a discount of CHF 100”

What is your suggestions?

  1. I have no suggestion but that is absolutely the sellers fault for the Monitor being damaged in shipping, i speak from my own experience when i sold a Monitor a few years back.
I would demand from Digitec or Post a confirmation that the packaging wasnt sufficient and then confront the seller and demand the Money back, its his loss in the End

  2. That seemss to happen often with „asgoogasnew“ I would not buy any of their items marked with this wording.

Don’t buy expensive used from Galaxus unless you are aware of the risks – I’ve successfully bought some RAM and other smaller value stuff, but would never in a million years rely on their ability to intervene.
Buy used from ebay or amazon.de, Markus.ch is also a very well projected used items platform which I like – Ricardo is disgustingly bad but even that beats Galaxus – basically, avoid Galaxus altogether if you can – they have horrible business practices and their restocking fee for product returns is a joke, never expected to say this, but foletti.ch is actually 10 times better than them for many nuanced reasons.

Good practice I put in place **EVERYTIME** I receive **ANY** package: Set up my phone, record the entire parcel opening, unboxing and inspection.

It’s not a scam. Why people just put random buzzwords into titles? Maybe be a bit more precise. Help is to enjoy Reddit.

Return it and ask for full refund. False advertising. Or ask for a price reduction in case you still want to keep it.

  6. I am not a lawyer!

But try to sue the seller – ask your Rechtsschutz if you got one – The seller did not package the item properly, therefore Post ist out of the picture. The same goes for Galaxus, who only provides their platform as a service.

You will have to prove that the seller/sender did not do it properly. For delicate things like monitors, it is a common practice to send them in the original packaging (the main reason to keep the box and the styrofoam pieces).
