  1. Coffee, the best of all earthly drinks. Ish.

    Its in swedish, not norwegian.

    Directly translated it reads;

    “The coffee-sip the best is

    of all earthly drinks”

  2. The coffee-drop [kaffetåren is a kind of nickname for a cup of coffee] the best is, of all earthly drinks. Swedish.

  3. Kaffetåren den bästa är av alla jordiska drycker
sip-of-coffee the best is of all earthly drinks:
Coffee is the best of all drinks on earth.

It is swedish. In norwegian it would spell like this:
Kaffetåren den beste er av alle jordiske drikker.

So – pretty much the same, just a bit of spelling changes.

  4. Swedish, not Norwegian. 🙂

    In Norwegian it would be:
“Kaffetåren den beste er / av alle jordiske drikker”

    Translates to
“The coffee sip the best is / of all earthly drinks.”

It’s written like that, in a “poetry form” sort of.

  5. The artist has signed it «Berggren». Definitely Swedish.

So you can research the artist! He or she seems to have been popular in Norway, there are some items on Finn. Not really worth anything though 🙂

The pattern is in the rose painting tradition, but that is not exclusive to Norway. This looks like it could be «dalmålning», from the Dalarna district in Sweden (Dalarna: «The Valleys»).

I bet there is a makers mark on the bottom of the cup!

  6. Coffeesip the best is of all earthly drinks

Its swedish, but also contains old ways of writing and speaking in norwegian, example use; har du ei kaffitåre til meg?

Which roughly translate to; do you have a sip of coffee for me?

Not sure about that though. But that it is what your mug says😁🍻
