Only 41% of households, compared to 46% in 2024, manage to put money aside: it is the lowest figure since 2018

In 2025, the ability of Italian families to save has been reduced. Only 41% of households manage to put money aside compared to 46% in 2024; the others consume all their income or are forced to dip into savings. This is the lowest figure since 2018. Expectations for the next 12 months also indicate a further compression of saving capacity.

in 2025, both those who consumed all their income (37% compared to 34% in 2024) and those who had to draw on accumulated savings (15% compared to 12% in 2024) increased.

A growing number of families perceive a worsening or more difficult management of their standard of living (57% compared to 51% in 2024).

1 Italian out of 2 is dissatisfied and 1 in 5 in great difficulty (20% versus 13% in 2024). The share of families in which one of the members has been affected by is growing work difficulties (29% in 2025, up from 21% in 2024),

57 percent of families declares a worsened standard of living or notices difficulties, against 43% who experienced improvements or tranquility. As regards expectations for the next 3 years, the personal situation divides Italians between 38% who are optimistic, 39% who see no changes, and 16% who are seriously worried.

The tendency to keeping money in the current account increases slightly: in 2025 it will affect 64% of Italians (it was 63% in 2024 and 62% in 2023)

propensity to invest in real estate rises from 26% to 34%, to the detriment of the different types of financial investments.

The trust of Italians towards laws and tools to protect savings is growing, and reaches almost 1 in 2 Italians.
