More crime happens where all the people are? Shocking.

>By contrast, gun crime outside London has been on an upward trajectory, increasing by 23 per cent since 2013. It meant that by 2022, the north east, north west and Yorkshire and the Humber had higher rates of firearms crimes per head of population than London.
I like how they pick and choose what data to use depending on the conclusion they want to draw. Don’t bother with the rate per head of population to write the headline, but do it when comparing rates against Yorkshire.

Pretty terrifying to be honest. If gun crime continues to rise I mean. At least you have some kind of chance at self defense with a knife. At the very least a chance to run away.
I really feel like we need some extremely harsh sentences for people found in possession of a gun or knife.

Guns are not uncommon in the UK.
the vast majority of people are extremely ignorant to what exactly goes on in this country.
it is rotten to the core.
Ignorance is the only thing that continues to hold strong.
So it will all continue….
And get worse…..

The Tories have cut nearly £1 billion from the Metropolitan Police since 2010 – supported every step of the way by the Liberal Democrats when they were in government together. As a direct result of these cuts, London has fewer police officers,

Anecdotally in the part of London I grew up in they seem to be much rarer than when I was growing up in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Statistics seem to bear that out.
Sad to see any kind of rise though.

Gun crime in London is 60% lower than in 2013
Gun crime outside of London is 20% higher than 2013
If these trends continue, London will be the only safe place in the uk

Can any forensic fella tell me what’s going on in the pic? Seems too in depth for a brass party, what are they looking for exactly.

Funny this info has become available after the elections.

I’m not at all surprised. We are no longer policed and the gangs know it. Our mayor is too fussed about winning votes to make difficult choices which help address the sources. Party politics is what has given us this mess. I used to be a labour/corbyn supporter, but would now favour anyone who would get government out of the way and let people protect themselves and their property with a far greater amount of force.

Isn’t it rising from a very low base though? A couple of years ago, the whole country went months without a single recorded incident. Now the pandemic era is in the rear view mirror it was inevitable things would change again but it feels a little alarmist to make out like London is the bronx.
Compare London with *any* urban area of a comparable size anywhere from New York down to Tierra del Fuego and London’s gun crime rate will be a fraction. Almost certainly lower than Paris, Moscow, Rome and some of the larger cities in Asia too.
Kids are shooting up schools in the States with arsenals hardened criminals in this country can only dream of whilst our gangs are largely renting weapons or using reactivated antiques.
Obviously *any* gun crime at all is a cause for concern and a sharp increase doubly so but I think we can all spot the agenda here.
