After three years away from the competition, Bulgaria has confirmed it will be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026. It comes following an official announcement from national broadcaster BNT.

Bulgaria looking to promote its culture through Eurovision

In a press release delivered by the broadcaster, BNT said the motive behind the return was to promote Bulgaria’s rich culture. It also allowed for Bulgaria to show itself on an international stage to be seen by the world audience.

BNT’s Director-General Emil Koshlukov said in a statement about the decision to return:

Eurovision is a stage where cultures meet and stories are shared. BNT supports talented artists and we are happy that we were able to once again provide an opportunity for a Bulgarian artist to represent our country in front of an audience of millions.

The EBU’s Eurovision Director, Martin Green, also congratulated BNT on its decision to return to the competition, saying that the return was “further proof that we remain united by music”. Further details on how the act that will represent Bulgaria in Vienna will be selected will be revealed in due course.
