KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) – The Credit Union of Texas recently celebrated the grand opening of its Kilgore branch with a family fun day complete with a ham and turkey giveaway.
CUTX has been opened in Kilgore for around a year and decided to mark its grand opening by inviting residents to a day filled with free activities.
“We’ve got pumpkin painting, we’ve got a turkey drive, we’ve got free food,” said Ryan Betts, community engagement officer for CUTX.
When asked about the decision to host a ham and turkey drive specifically, Betts explained, “I think we can all agree, it’s been a pretty tough year for everyone. And this is just another way for us to give back to the community and bless some families for sure.”
“This is our first time to do a turkey drive with one, so we are really excited about it,” said Betts. “And if it’s really, really great, maybe you’ll see us next year have another one.”
According to Betts, around 300 people attended the event.
“We opened about ten minutes early for the turkey drive because the line was out in the street,” said Betts. “So we wanted to make sure we weren’t holding up traffic for the Kilgore community.”
