Officers of the Regional Security Center “North”, in cooperation and on the order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in Plav, arrested a citizen of North Macedonia EI on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of fraud to the detriment of a resident of Plav in the amount of 10.000 euros, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
“Namely, it is suspected that EI committed the criminal offense she is charged with by falsely presenting facts and misleading and maintaining the injured party, inducing him to hand over money in the amount of 10.000 euros, since November 2023, with the intention of obtaining unlawful material gain,” the statement states.
The police added that the injured party sent her money on several occasions through a bank, and handed her a certain portion of the money directly in her presence, allegedly for paying taxes in the process of purchasing an apartment.
“By order of the acting prosecutor, EI was deprived of her liberty and, with a criminal complaint, brought to the same within the legal deadline for further jurisdiction. The fight against economic crime will continue to be the focus of the officers of the Regional Security Center ‘North’,” the UP statement reads.
