The Speaker of the Georgias Parliament, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with Erlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the emphasis was placed on the long-term friendly relations between the two nations, common past and the future aspirations.
Mr. Papuashvili recalled his official visit paid to Kazakhstan last year and underlined the significance of the response visit of Mr. Koshanov, and expressed his gratitude to Kazakhstan for it’s unwavering support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
Mr. Koshanov stated that this is the first official visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Kazakhstan to Georgia, which will trigger a new impulse to bilateral relationships.
The parties reviewed the parliamentary cooperation prospects; at this junction, thr two counterparts gave a positive assessment of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliaments. As highlighted, the Friendship Groups conduct active exchanges.
The parties accentuated the significance of the links between the Committees and the administrations. The discourse encompassed the cooperation in the trade, economic, transport and energy spheres, as well as the investments, culture and youth aspects.
The parties expressed the commitment to sharing experience in the digitalisation and AI domains.
As noted, Georgia and Kazakhstan are the silk road countries and their cooperation acquires particular value in terms of the middle corridor development, since the corridor is the key factor that provides the opportunity for the global trade.

Mr. Koshanov underscored that Kazakhstan intends to transit to the single chamber system and the holding of the elections by the party list, and in this context, he expressed his interest in the Georgias experience.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Speaker, Nino Tsilosani, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee, Shota Berekashvili, Head of the Georgia – Kazakhstan Friendship Group, Anton Obolashvili, Deputy Chair of the Faction “Georgian Dream”, Genrietta Tsitsava, Deputy Chair of the Political Group “People’s Power”, Eka Sepashvili.
