Police said four of seven people on Wednesday, all suspected of forcing minors into prostitution, were themselves police officers.

The police in Tuzla Canton, one of ten cantons in Bosnia’s Federation entity, arrested seven individuals on Wednesday suspected of human trafficking and forcing minors into prostitution.

Four of those arrested are police officers – Kalesija Police Department Inspector Besim Klopic, head of the Crime Division of Zivinice Police Miralem Halilovic, and two officers from the Zivinice Police – Jasmin Modric and Dzevad Pozegic.

Zijad Jagodic, a former member of the state-level parliament and currently a professor at the European University in Brcko was also arrested.

“After a months-long investigation conducted by the Police Administration of the Interior Ministry of the Tuzla Canton, on 29 October 2025, in the morning hours, police officers …  carried out searches at seven locations in the Tuzla Canton, in the areas of Zivinice, Banovici and Kalesija,” the Police Administration said.

According to media reports, some of the victims were residents of the Home for Children without Parental Care in Tuzla. The exact number of victims is still unknown.

More information is expected to be made public after the arrested are questioned. Bosnian laws limit the release of information in cases where either the victims or the perpetrators are minors.
