So MPs can literally kill people through poor policy decisions, but someone complaining about that in a noticeable way will be the one being imprisoned?

They can get fucked. The whole point of protest is to make it uncomfortable for those in power. They shouldn’t be in politics if they can’t handle it.
Their families are also not exempt from this as ours are not exempt from their poor mismanagement and laws they pass that have real world impacts.
If we feel the pain, so should they.
Also it says in the article they already charged people for harassing the PM so if there are already laws to cover it, why do we need more?

ID cards, further limits on the right to non-violent protest under discussion, what else is on the timetable for Government?
It’s starting to feel increasingly dystopian.

A lot of recent “protestors” are crossing the line for intimidation and calls for violence. There is zero reason a MP’s spouse and children should have to face threats and intimidation at their homes.

I thought that was “*the proper way*” to do it though?

Nice protection if you can get it, meanwhile the public are butchered.

Banning Terror Groups, banning intimidation… what next???

Not sure why anyone would be against this rule.
Being an MP is a job, and just like any other job you have the right to maintain a balance between work and non-work.
I don’t care what the cause is – I wouldn’t want anyone protesting outside my house, no matter if I agree with the protesters.

As long as this doesn’t apply to no 10, i think this is fine?
I’ve never liked that MPs homes are so broadcasted by protests or by journalists doorstepping them (which should also be illegal as far as the videoing of it)

Why only MP’s homes? Why not extend it to anyone’s home? Or is it just perfectly fine when it’s foreigners being intimidated instead?

Voters only think they want jobs and housing.
What they actually want is for MPs to avoid dealing with people who are not sycophantic toward them.

Yeah this seems fair. Similar to how you can’t protest outside abortion clinics you shouldnt be allowed to harrass and intimidate people at their own homes. If far right activists were protesting outside Muslim homes people would understand that not being allowed as well.

inching closer to “it should be illegal to @ me” which lots of MPs would support

This is what happens if people tolerate harassment of MPs and their families. People should protest in the usual ways, not try to intimidate individual MPs.
Remember it is not just about causes you agree with: should neo-nazis picket left wing MPs’ homes?

How long do you think until they ban protesting outside of parliament?

Hong Kong citizens went militant for less and we supported them.
