BirGün reached the analysis results of Alpedo Dondurma made in the laboratories of Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University. Plain ice cream of the Alpedo Ice Cream brand was analyzed on October 1, 2025. As a result of the analysis dated October 6, it was determined that the ice cream contained bacteria that should not be present. According to the results of the analysis, bacteria that can cause food poisoning and fatal infections were found in the ice cream.

Evaluating the analysis results to BirGün, Food Engineer and Academician Dr. Bülent Şık said, “The report is a microbiological analysis report. Microbiological analyzes are carried out to determine whether there is a situation that may pose a risk to human health in the process of food from production to consumption. It both shows the quality of production conditions and is carried out to understand whether pathogenic microorganisms, especially pathogenic bacteria that cause food poisoning and intestinal infections, are present in the food.”

Evaluating the analysis report as a whole, Bülent Şık stated that the ice cream contained dangerous bacteria, was produced in very dirty conditions and was “contaminated with feces” and said:

“We can say that this is a situation that is very contrary to food legislation and dangerous for public health. This product poses a serious health risk, especially for pregnant women, children, the elderly and sick people. The presence of so many different types of pathogenic bacteria in a product is really frightening. I think this situation reflects not a food safety problem that is instantaneous and specific to only one product, but a chronic problem related to the entire production process of the enterprise. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is legally obliged to carry out routine checks and inspections in food businesses. But does it carry out inspections, what is the frequency of inspections, and can detect problems in its inspections We do not know what it does when it detects it. We must seek answers to these questions. Ice cream is a product that children love to eat, and it is unacceptable that it poses such a high risk to children’s health.

According to the legislation, the sale of the products of this ice cream brand existing in the market must be prohibited immediately as a precaution, in accordance with Article 22 of Law No. 5996, and the products must be withdrawn from the market and recalled. At the same time, both the products and the business must be subject to control and inspection and penal sanctions must be applied. It is imperative that the Ministry takes urgent action on this issue.”

WHOSE ALPEDO ICE CREAM? It is known that the Alpedo Ice Cream company belongs to Sami Kervancıoğlu and Mustafa Pekel, who are on trial with imprisonment sentences of up to 876 years each in the Ezgi Apartmanı case. 35 people lost their lives in Ezgi Apartment, which was destroyed by the earthquake. In the expert report prepared by Karadeniz Technical University, it was stated that the contractor who built the building and the Kervan Patisserie, located on the ground floor of the building, were primarily at fault in the demolition.
